Not So Fine

We are going on vacation in 8 days. Our regular credit card has a huge limit on it so I didn't want to take it with us. Instead I opted for another card that we don't use. It's a master card that I got when I financed my laptop a few years back. I added a pin to it so I could use it for ATM's on vacation. I called to check on fees and was told everything except the most important part (I'll get to that).
I used the card the other day at an ATM just to be sure it was working. Today I checked online and found a $10 service charge.
So I just called customer service to get it taken off.
I knew that there must be some mistake. I mean, how could you justify that outrageous charge?
That is an interesting term, "Customer Service".
Should companies be able to use that term when they don't provide any service to customers? I think not.
Not only did I get no customer service I got a rude person on the other end of the line.
She explained that it was all very simple and that there was a 23% charge on all cash advances.
Now I'm no math genius but I'm pretty sure that $10 is not 23% of $20.
I pointed that out to the girl and she asked me if I had trouble with math.
Now I'm getting steamed! If I could only reach through the phone at that point and just.......But of course being a Christian I asked for someone who might have a clue like a supervisor.
That didn't go over too well. I can't write what she said but if it was recorded then she may be out a job which would be too bad.
I asked the supervisor if he felt in this economy that a bank could justify a $10 charge on a $20 cash advance.
Anyway no service for me today.
I did learn that I will close this account and never use the Juniper master card again.
Fine print, who actually reads it anyway?
